We’ve scoured the internet, spoken to some of the best chefs we know (moms for the win!) and curated some of the best tea-potners we could find.
If you are looking to take a walk on the wild side, we suggest you start with spreading that
tea-blecloth and getting to work!
The Asian Popcorn Twist
Ingredients:
5 packets 20g Teetoo Popcorn (Salted)
1½ cups chow mein noodles
3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium)
1 cup peanuts (roasted in honey)
1 tablespoon lime juice (freshly squeezed)
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 ½ teaspoons sesame oil
1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce (adjust as per preference)
Directions:
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Preheat the oven to 250℉.
- In a large bowl, add your popcorn, chow mein noodles and peanuts.
- In a different bow, whisk soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, butter, ginger and Sriracha.
Once mixed well, pour the buttery sauce over the popcorn mixture. Toss it to mix it well. - Distribute the popcorn over the baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, stirring the mixture halfway.
- Now enjoy your hot, favourite tea with snacks so good, you’ll keep coming back for more.
The Fox Nut Beach Snack
Ingredients:
1 jar Teetoo Fox Nuts (Chutney and Lime)
1 medium sized onion (finely chopped)
1 medium sized tomato (finely chopped and deseeded)
½ cup spring onions (finely chopped – green)
10-15 fresh mint leaves (finely chopped)
½ teaspoon chaat masala
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 green chilli (finely chopped)
2 tablespoons fresh coriander (finely chopped)
2 tablespoons nylon sev (chickpea flour vermicelli)
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, add the onion, tomato, spring onions, fresh mint leaves, lemon juice, chilli, coriander and your spice mixes.
- Add salt to the mixture and give it a good stir.
- Lastly, crush your fox nuts and add it to the bowl along with the nylon sev.
- Enjoy your tea and snacks leisurely.
The Middle Eastern Sfouf (Semolina Turmeric Cake)
Ingredients:
2 cups semolina flour (fine)
2 cups boiling water
2 cups all purpose flour (sifted)
1 cup vegetable oil
1¾ cups sugar
2 tablespoons aniseed
2 tablespoons turmeric powder
3 tablespoons baking powder
2 tablespoons Tahini (sesame paste)
Teetoo cookies – crumbled for decoration
Directions:
- Boil your aniseed in the water for 10 minutes before you strain and cool it.
- Preheat the oven to 355℉.
- In a large mixing bowl, add your semolina, flour, turmeric and baking powder until it is well combined.
- Now add the sugar to the aniseed tea and stir until dissolved.
- Add your oil and sugar tea to the large bowl of dry ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined. The batter should be slightly thick.
- Next, spread your Tahini paste all over the bottom and sides of a 11 inch round baking pan.
- Bake the cake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let your cake cool for half an hour before serving.
- Add your Teetoo cookie crumb and serve with piping hot tea.
